Dauntless is a free-to-play action RPG, where you take down giant monsters in up to 4-player teams. The game is highly reminiscent of the Monster Hunter series, but where Monster Hunter is usually more slow-paced, tactical and thought-out, Dauntless takes a more high-octane approach.
The game starts out pretty easy, but it gets quite punishing later and you will have to master your weapon, and of course dodging as well (just like in Monster Hunter).
The game can get kinda grindy at times. But I think the Free/Paid contents are pretty well balanced. The paid contents are nice and generally worth the price (excluding the premium skins, you decide if you think they are worth it or not), and playing the game for free doesn't really subtract too much from the overall experience.
Personally I wanted to rank up as quickly as possible, and I didn't want to lose out on the unlockable cosmetics and other rewards. Also, I knew from the first day I played it that I was going to sink several hundred hours into the game, so spending the same I would on any other game seemed like a no-brainer.
